Practical order

  1. 1

Read the current IRCC intake notice and record whether interest forms or applications are accepted; the 2025 intake is currently closed and was by invitation only.

  2. 2

Prepare sponsor status, residence, household, prior undertakings, family relationship and the parent/grandparent and dependant facts used by the current sponsor rules.

  3. 3

If an actual invitation permits an application, prepare the sponsor and co-signer’s current required tax/income records for the family-size and period controls shown by IRCC.

  4. 4

If IRCC issues an invitation, compare its sponsor identity, interest-form details and account deadline before opening the application guide and personalized checklist.

  5. 5

The sponsor and applicants complete their current forms, civil/family, income, police, medical and checklist records; the principal applicant submits and pays IRCC directly.

  6. 6

Answer IRCC biometrics, medical, police or document requests and, for Québec destination, complete the separate provincial undertaking only when instructed.
