Your information stays under your control.
FileNorth is a private service operated from Québec. Private hosting and backups are located in France. This policy explains what we process, why, where and for how long.
Accountability and contact
FileNorth is accountable for personal information processed through the service. For a privacy question, access request or complaint, contact the privacy lead at [email protected].
Information we process
We process the account email and language, answers and preferences you choose to save, cases and tasks, route facts, drafts, documents you upload, payment status and technical records needed for security. FileNorth never asks for a government-account password, a government electronic signature or full payment-card details.
How we use information
We use this information to create and secure your account, provide the purchased workspace, organize your file, create your exports and factual drafts, scan for malware, prevent abuse, process payments and answer your requests. We do not sell personal information or use it for behavioural advertising.
France hosting and service providers
Accounts, cases, encrypted documents, databases and encrypted backups are hosted in France. Stripe processes payment and receives the information needed for the transaction; the email provider processes the address and content of verification or recovery messages. Those providers may process data in other countries under their own locations and contracts. Official websites opened from FileNorth are external services governed by their own policies.
Safeguards
Connections use HTTPS. Passwords are hashed; sessions use secure cookies; private facts and files are encrypted at rest; uploads are limited and malware-scanned; access is isolated by owner; and backups are encrypted and restore-tested. No system removes every risk: use a unique password and never share government credentials.
Retention and deletion
Account data is kept while the account remains open. Paid access lasts 12 months, but expiry does not automatically delete the account. You can delete the account in Settings: active data and files are then removed, and residual encrypted copies age out of rotating backups within no more than 14 days. Verification and reset tokens expire automatically. Minimal transaction or security records may be kept where law requires.
Access, correction and export
You can correct editable facts in the workspace, export your data in Settings and delete your account. You may also contact the privacy lead to request access, correction or information about processing. We may need to verify identity before responding.
Family and dependants
You must have authority before entering information about a family member or dependant. FileNorth is not intended for direct use by a child without supervision from a responsible adult.
Changes and complaints
A material change will be dated and posted before it applies. You may contact us first to resolve a concern; you also retain the right to contact the applicable privacy authority.
